1 Postdoc or 2 PhD Positions are available within the project “Hsp90 cochaperones Aha1 and Tpr2/Dnajc7 in Endoplasmic Reticulum associated protein quality control” funded initially for 3 years by the DFG (German Research Association).
Project description: Misfolding of Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) associated proteins such as mutant Cystic Fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) or mutant insulin causes severe diseases like Cystic Fibrosis and diabetes. The molecular chaperone systems heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) and heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) are major guardians of protein quality in the cell and assist clients in folding or triage misfolded polypeptides for proteolytic disposal. Recently, we have identified two novel cochaperones, Aha1 and Tpr2/Dnajc7, which regulate Hsp90. Our goal is to analyze to which extent Aha1 and Tpr2/Dnajc7 contribute to Hsp90 dependent quality control of ER proteins in mouse models and in vitro using biochemical techniques.
