Open Position for Chairman of the Applied Economics Department and associate professors of School of Economics and Management, Southwest Jiaotong University
Founded in 1896, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is one of the earliest universities in China. As a national key university, SWJTU is one of the first universities thatare included in the national “211 Project” and the “985 Feature Project”.
The School of Economics and Management was founded in 1984. So far we have Doctoral program in Management Science and Engineering, Doctoral program in Business Administration, Master degree program in Applied Economics, MBA program and EMBA program and so on. To adapt to the rapid development of our school and the discipline development of applied economics, we are recruiting a Chairman of the Applied Economics Department. And the school of economics and management at Southwest Jiaotong University also invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the associate professor level or above.
For the Associate Professor Level or Above:
All fields in business and management are considered. Applicants should have (a) Ph.D. degree before July, 2014; (b) strong potential and interest in research and teaching; (c) a good mastery of English or Mandarin.Qualifications will be discussed face to face during the interview.
For the Chairman of the department of Applied Economics:
The department of Applied Economics of the school invites applications for the chairman of the department. The detailed requirements are listed as follows:
1. Candidate Qualifications
(1).Applicants should have outstanding academic impact with a relative high reputation in his research field. Ph.D. degree and professor title are required except the following cases: a) applicants hold outstanding academic achievements; b) hold strong social impact; c) hold or tenured associate professor title in a well-known foreign university.
(2).Applicants should have a good understanding of teaching and academic frontiers of applied economics, and have rich experience of management as well as strong ability of organization and coordination. Overseas studyor academic visiting experience is preferred.
(3).Applicants should havea good personality trait, professional ethics, consciousofinnovation and teamwork spirit. And applicants should have a good physical condition with the age under 50 (this requirement could be flexible if the candidateisexceptionally excellent).
4.It is a full-time on-site job, and applicants are encouraged to bring his research team (the qualifications and salaries for the team members could be discussed later).
2. Position Statement and Job Objectives
(1). assist the dean to construct the faculty team: making strategies for the faculty construction, strengthening the construction of innovation team, and promoting the competency of our faculty.
(2). organize the teachers to carry out the cutting edge research in applied economics: improving the academic level of our teachers and the academic impact at home and abroad.
(3). assist the dean to develop the applied economics discipline and to reform the teaching: exploring a new model of talentdevelopment that cultivates the talents with innovation ability.
(4). assist the dean to implement internationalization strategy: strengthening the international collaboration and communication, implementing the cooperation with well-known universities and research institutions abroad, improving the internationalizationlevel of applied economics discipline.
3. Term of Employment
The first employment term is 4 years;
Further employment term will be agreed according to the working results when the first term expired.
