Donghua University (DHU), formerly East China Institute of Textile Science and Technology and China Textile University, was founded in 1951. Located in Shanghai, DHU is one of the state-key universities directly under the Ministry of Education of China. DHU is a multi-disciplinary university with 15 colleges and schools, offering 52 undergraduate programs, 63 master’s degree programs, 31 doctoral degree programs, and 5 postdoctoral research programs. There are more than 2,800 faculty and staff, and over 30,000 enrolled students at DHU. Its feature disciplines, such as Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, Material Science, and International Trade have received high reputation both domestically and abroad.  
 
Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation (SCF), approved by the Ministry of Education of China, is a non-profit Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run educational institution and a subordinate school under DHU without independent legal person status. SCF aims to combine the world’s leading academic provision in fashion and related disciplines, bring together globally leading faculty, and educate future international leaders in fashion and the creative fields. In September 2014, SCF will start two undergraduate programs taught in English, “Fashion and Accessory Design (Fashion Creative Design)” major and “Environment Design (Interior Design)” major, both collaboratively run by DHU and the University of Edinburgh. To meet its developmental needs, SCF is recruiting globally for ten academic vacancies in the fields of Fashion and Accessory Design (Fashion Creative Design) and Environment Design (Interior Design). 
 
Academic Vacancies 
 
1. Professor/ Leader of the Discipline  
 
1.1 Main Duties 
 
• Act as the leader of the major and the discipline.  
 
• Plan for the overall construction of the major and the discipline according to the requirements of the college.  
 
• Conduct teaching and research in major fields. Students include undergraduate and postgraduate students (master/doctoral).  
 
• Lead and manage the academic team to achieve the teaching and research objectives, including supervising, training, advising, managing, and motivating faculty and staff. 
 
• Required to work in the office 5 days per week with specified office hours for teaching and research responsibilities and students’ academic supports.  
 
1.2 Qualifications 
 
• Capable to teach in fluent English; 
 
• Doctoral degree in the relevant fields and title of professor or associate professor granted by other academic institute. 
 
• Rich research experience in the relevant fields with evidence of journal and book publication; preferably with international teaching and professional experiences. 
 
• Minimum 5 years relevant teaching experience in the relevant fields with proof. Experiences in curriculum and program design. A draft plan for curriculum construction and teaching administration in the relevant fields may be required. 
 
• Ability of assessing and allocate teaching resources; 
 
• Management and leadership skills in a team working environment 
 
• Committed to full-time office hours. Absence without notice work time is not allowed. 
 
Priority will be given to: 
 
• Professionals with rich teaching experience in art design colleges, distinguished achievement in the relevant fields, and high reputation among peers. 
 
• Professionals with strong connection with renowned institutions, enterprises, governmental organizations and other influential public organizations, who can help increase the recognition and influence of the college. 
 
2. Associate Professor  
 
2.1 Main Duties 
 
• Teach and research in the relevant majors and disciplines. Students include undergraduate and postgraduate students (master).  
 
• Be responsible for the designing of high quality course syllabi within the relevant majors and disciplines.  
 
• Complete independent research projects or parts of large-scale research projects with achievements.  
 
• Teach and advise students in their projects and graduate works. 
 
• Assist in developing teaching and research activities.  
 
• Collaborating with other faculty in academic quality control. Participate in SCF academic administration and curriculum development. 
 
• Required to work in the office 5 days per week with specified office hours for teaching and research responsibilities and students’ academic supports.  
 
2.2 Qualifications 
 
• Capable of teaching in fluent English. 
 
• Doctoral degree in the relevant fields and title of associate professor or assistant professor granted by other academic institute 
 
• Rich research experience in the relevant fields with evidence of journal and book publication; preferably with international teaching and professional experiences. 
 
• Minimum 5 years relevant teaching experience in the relevant fields. Familiar with the latest teaching methods and skills.  
 
• Experiences in course and program design. Able to design and evaluate the course. 
 
• Able to develop new teaching methods, especially methods that apply relevant theories, models, skills and analytical instruments. 
 
• Experiences of successful application and fulfillment of research projects;  
 
• Experiences of participating international exchanges and academic activities. 
 
• Have some management skills and multi-task skill, able to design and manage teaching, administrative, and research activities simultaneously. 
 
• Able to effectively utilize the resources based on the academic requirements 
 
• Good team play and able to collaborate with other others well.

Priority will be given to: 
 
• Professionals with teaching experience in art design colleges, achievement in relevant fields, and reputation among peers. 
 
• Professionals who are capable of getting research fund or other forms of financial support. 
 
• Professionals who can demonstrate the SCF achievements in appropriate local and national media networks or public activities. 
 
3. Lecturer/Teaching Assistant 
 
3.1 Main Duties 
 
• Teach undergraduate students in the relevant majors and disciplines.  
 
• Teach and advise students in their projects and graduate works 
 
• Support students in their experimental or explorative designs and assist them in their individual research plans. 
 
• Required to work in the office 5 days per week with specified office hours for teaching and research responsibilities and students’ academic supports.  
 
3.2 Qualifications 
 
• Capable of teaching in fluent English. 
 
• Master degree and bachelor degree in art obtained in oversea institute(s), doctoral degree is preferred. 
 
• Knowledgeable and have academic achievements in the relevant fields.  
 
• Minimum 2 years teaching experience in relevant fields. Able to apply theories in teaching practices. International teaching or professional experiences are preferred. 
 
• Able to conduct discussions, seminars, and tutorial classes at different levels. 
 
• Effective time management skills. 
 
• Good team player and able to work with others well. 
 
• Good communicate skills and able to communicate effectively and interactively with students. 
 
• Committed to full-time office hours. Absence without notice during work time is not allowed. 
 
Priority will be given to: 
 
• Professionals with teaching experience in art design colleges. 
 
• Professionals with curriculum and course design experiences. 
 
• Professionals with teaching certificate at tertiary level.
