The Department invites applications for two professoriate openings arisen from retirement of academic staff. The Department’s research directions are geared towards materials and chemical biology. The Department is prepared to provide the appointees with suitable start-up funds for their research. Opportunities for annual application of research funding on a competitive basis are available in Hong Kong.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in chemistry, specializing in organic/inorganic/organometallic chemistry. Working knowledge of Chinese language will be an advantage. The appointees will (a) teach undergraduate and postgraduate chemistry courses, including advanced courses in their specialty; (b) conduct/supervise undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes; (c) capitalize on the well-established infrastructure in the Department for independent research in their fields of expertise; (d) serve as research supervisors of selected postgraduate students enrolled in MPhil/PhD programmes; and (e) assist in the administration of the Department.
Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Applications/Nominations will be considered until the posts are filled.

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
