Recruitment of Administrative Posts in
Southwest Jiaotong University
(No.2, 2016)
Founded in 1896, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), formerly known as the Imperial Chinese Railway College, Tangshan Jiaotong University and Tangshan Railway Institute, is one among the earliest Chinese institutions of higher education. The University is a prestigious university in China and listed in the state-level group of the “211 Project universities” and the “985 Project Innovation Platform on Rail Transit & Transportation” under the State Government.
To fulfill the demands for developing a top-class comprehensive and research-oriented university with dominant characteristics in traffic and transportation, SWJTU now is inviting applications from domestic and overseas talents to fill administrative post vacancies of the following positions.
I. Open Positions
1. Dean of School of Life Science and Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University (1 position)
2. Vice Dean of School of Life Science and Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University (2 position)
II. Qualifications
1. Dean of School of Life Science and Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University
(1) Having significant academic impacts on and great reputation in the academic fields; doctoral degrees (except for those with outstanding achievements in science and technology or academic research); professors (or tenured associate professors in foreign distinguished institutions of higher education);
(2) Be familiar with the principles of higher education, and the status in higher education both at home and abroad; with abundant management experience, good coordination ability and interpersonal skills; those with leadership experience in school/departments of prestigious universities, institutes or laboratories are preferred.
(3) With international education background, internationalized academic vision, and ability for leading the development of the relevant disciplines.
(4) With excellent personality and professional ethic, innovation consciousness and team spirit.
(5) With good health.
(6) Candidates of less than 50 years old are preferred (except for those who are exceptionally excellent).
(7) Full-time working at Southwest Jiaotong University in the term of employment; research team members are welcome to apply to work at SWJTU as well (the qualifications will be further discussed)
2. Vice Dean of School of Life Science and Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University
(1) Having significant academic impacts on and great reputation in the academic fields; doctoral degrees (except for those with outstanding achievements in science and technology or academic research); associate professors or higher;
(2) Be familiar with the principles of higher education, and the status in higher education both at home and abroad; with abundant management experience, good coordination ability and interpersonal skills; those with leadership experience in school/departments of prestigious universities, institutes or laboratories are preferred.
(3) With international education background, internationalized academic vision, and ability for leading the development of the relevant disciplines.
(4) With excellent personality and professional ethic, innovation consciousness and team spirit.
(5) With good health.
(6) Candidates of less than 45 years old are preferred.
III. Term of Employment
The first term is 4 years. The renewal of dean position will be determined by the work performances.
IV. Treatments
1. Generous remunerations in consistent with the academic achievements and positions.
2. Special treatments for high-level talent candidates (e.g., Distinguished Young Scholars of National Science Foundation, Cheung Kong Scholars, and experts on the One Thousand Talents Scheme), in accordance with the Conditions for the Recruitment of High Level Talents in SWJTU.
V. Recruitment Procedures

(2) Copy of ID or passport; copies of certificates for the diploma /academic degrees, academic and professional titles, and awards; confirmation letter of employment records. (The original version of such materials will be checked in interview).
(3) Certifying documentation of the administrative positions, major part-time academic and social services.
(4) Work plan and anticipated goals for the position applied.
