The Department of Biological Sciences, University of Aarhus, invites applications for a two-year post doctoral position at the Evolutionary Genetics group at the Bioinformatics Research Center, running from the 1st of November 2010.
The research group has a strong focus on the development of statistical and computational efficient models and their application to genomics data. A major aim is to develop models that integrate population genetics and molecular evolution in the same framework. The post. doc. will join the research program on coalescent hidden Markov models funded by the Research Councils as well as the evolutionary analysis of the bonobo and gorilla genomes through participation in international consortia.
The post doc will bring a strong expertise in population genetics, molecular evolution and phylogenetics as well as a proven ability to develop efficient bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of very large data sets. The research focus of the post. doc. will be to extend the coalescent Hidden Markov approach previously developed by the group and to apply these extensions to the analysis of related primate genomes. Extensions include devising tests of selective neutrality, ancestral demographics and estimations of the introgression rate.
