A postdoctoral researcher position is available July 1st, 2010 in the Department of Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN within UTHSC Center for Cancer Research program (http://www.uthsc.edu/cancer/). The primary research project will focus on determining the role of the oxygen-responsive transcription factor HIF-1alpha in regulation of breast cancer stem cell self-renewal, tumor-initiating ability and HIF-1-dependent gene expression and chemotherapy resistance using rodent models of breast cancer and/or human breast cancer cell lines. Qualifications: A strong background in molecular and cell biology techniques is required and experience working with genetically modified mice is preferred. Successful candidates will have obtained a Ph.D. in the life sciences within the past 5 years, have excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by prior publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as the ability to work in an interactive, open-lab format environment.
Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral fellows set by the state of Tennessee Department of Labor.
