Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a 3-year project funded by The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This is an exciting project investigating the role of microRNAs expressed at the cerebral vasculature in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis, in particular their role in blood-brain barrier breakdown and leukocyte transmigration. You will work within a collaborative network formed by three research centres: The Open University (Dr. Ignacio Romero, Prof David Male and Dr Mark Hirst); Queen Mary, University of London; (Prof David Baker and Dr Greg Michael) and University of Sheffield (Dr Basil Sharrack). The investigation will be conducted using a combination of experimental models including cultured human cells, post-mortem human brain tissues obtained through the UK Multiple Sclerosis Tissue Bank and animal models of multiple sclerosis.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent and be highly skilled in one or more of the following: cell biology, molecular biology, and/or animal physiology. A background of research in neuroscience and/or immunology would be desirable but not essential.
