Grade 7: Salary £28,983 – £35,646 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work under the supervision of Dr Kylie Vincent on a research project funded by the European Research Council. The post is for a period of 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension for up to a further 3 years. The project involves development and application of surface Infrared spectroelectrochemical approaches for studying mechanistic details of hydrogen cycling catalysis by hydrogenase enzymes. The post is based within a vibrant, growing research team who are employing physical methods to tackle a wide range of problems in biological inorganic chemistry. The post is available from February 2011 or soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants should either already have a PhD in Chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted their thesis prior to taking up the post. The applicant should have a strong background in physical electrochemical and/or spectroscopic methods, and creativity and enthusiasm for pursuing technical developments to address important challenges in biological and energy related catalysis.
