You will join the team in charge of operating and upgrading the ESRF beamline ID12 which is dedicated to polarisation dependent X-ray spectroscopies in the energy range between 2 and 15 keV. These spectroscopies featuring element and orbital selectivities have proved to be remarkable tools for the investigation of fundamental properties of matter via various order parameters, e.g., spin and orbital moments, electric dipole moment, orbital anapole etc. Sub-nanosecond dynamics of these moments can be studied with a completely new technique based on X-ray detection of magnetic resonance. In joining the beamline team, you will participate in this exciting research program and in the support for external users, in further developments of the experimental techniques at the beamline, and follow your own research project.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Material Science or similar. Experience in areas such as X-ray spectroscopies, including dichroisms and synchrotron radiation instrumentation is essential. A good practice of UHV techniques would be appreciated. A good background in solid state physics is crucial.
