NIH funded postdoctoral positions are available in the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Medical School to study the role of cilia in developmental patterning and cell fate determination in the mammalian limb bud, skin and hair follicle morphogenesis, and in cystic kidney disease. Particular emphasis will be on the role of cilia and intraflagellar transport in regulating the Hedgehog, Wnt, and planar cell polarity signaling pathways. Additional projects include assessing the role of the primary cilium in regulating neuronal activity in relation to learning, memory, behavior, and obesity.
The ideal applicant should have excellent communication and writing skills, be highly motivated, and willing to work independently and as part of collaborative team. Previous experience in specific tissues or signaling pathways mentioned above would be highly beneficial. Interested applicants should send or e-mail a cover letter describing their past research activities, curriculum vitae, and the name and contact information of 3 references to:
