We are seeking a candidate for a post-doctoral position in schizophrenia genetics. The project aims to integrate the main findings from the meta-analyses of genome-wide association studies for schizophrenia as performed under the umbrella of the joint Psychiatric GWAS meta-Analysis Consortium with publicly available data (e.g. linkage, literature, gene expression results). The most promising findings will then be followed up in large case-control and family samples using a customized SNP array.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics or a related field and a strong interest in analyzing large-scale complex disease data sets
The project involves a collaboration between Drs. Patrick Sullivan at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Edwin van den Oord at the Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine / Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The position is initially for two years, will be highly interactive involving multiple faculty members, and is offering ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
To apply/obtain more information please email your CV to Chanda Diep (diepcn@vcu.edu). VCU is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities encouraged to apply.
