Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS), University of California, San Diego (UCSD). One or more Postdoctoral positions are available in spring/summer 2008 in the Laboratory of Dr. James R. Halpert, who will be moving to UCSD as Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs in the SSPPS. Projects include conformational plasticity of cytochromes P450 2B (J. Biol. Chem 281:5973-5981 and 8051-8061, 2006; Biochemistry 46:11559-11567, 2007), cooperativity of P450 3A4 (Biochemistry 46:106-119 and 7852-7864, 2007), and cooperativity of P450eryF (Journal of the American Chemical Society 129:2015-2024, 2007). Approaches include X-ray crystallography, isothermal titration calorimetry, rapid kinetics, pressure perturbation spectroscopy, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, site-directed mutagenesis, and molecular modeling.
A Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, pharmacology, chemistry, or a related field is required. Formal and practical training in X-ray crystallography, molecular modeling, solution biophysics, or protein biochemistry is also required. Strong writing skills are highly desirable. Salary is competitive and negotiable.
