Principal Investigator: Kelly Frazer Maildrop: MEM-275 E-Mail: kfrazer@scripps.edu. SCRIPPS GENOMIC MEDICINE A Collaboration of Scripps Health and The Scripps Research Institute
Join a dynamic organization, Scripps Genomic Medicine, an initiative of Scripps Health in collaboration with The Scripps Research Institute. Our organization supports basic research and clinical programs focused on identifying and characterizing genes that underlie susceptibility to disease.
Duties & Responsibilities: A postdoctoral position is available in the newly formed Scripps Genomic Medicine Group. The goal of our research is to identify and characterize DNA variants associated with human disease. We will also conduct cohort sequencing studies of kilobase-sized intervals in the human genome to gain insight into the allelic frequency spectrum and structure of DNA variation involved in disease. Additionally, we will perform focused functional studies to study the biological mechanisms underlying the association between DNA variants and disease. Primary duties for this position include establishing high-through protocols as well as targeted functional biological assays, and analyze data.
Requirements: The individual must be a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology or other related field. Expertise in a broad range of molecular-biological and biochemical techniques (cloning, sequencing, PCR, purification of DNA, RNA, proteins, etc.) is desirable. Proficiency in the use of currently existing bioinformatic programs and tools for human DNA sequence analysis, knowledge of public genomic databases, gene expression analysis, and association study analysis is a plus. Please send CV and a list of at least 3 professional references to kfrazer@scripps.edu.
