英国癌症研究院伦敦研究所招聘博士后
A 3-year postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Helle Ulrich at the Clare Hall Laboratories, Cancer Research UK London Research Institute.

Our group studies the mechanisms by which the post-translational protein modifiers ubiquitin and SUMO contribute to the maintenance of genome stability, particularly in the context of lesion bypass during DNA replication. Previous work from our lab has demonstrated how modification of the replication factor PCNA by monoubiquitin and SUMO controls the pathways by which DNA lesions are processed, and has given insight into the cellular signals that trigger the appropriate modification in the cell. We are now engaged in the elucidation of the molecular signals emanating from polyubiquitin chains, the reconstitution and mechanistic analysis of PCNA modifications in a recombinant system and an investigation of how the pathway of DNA damage bypass interacts with chromatin, the replication machinery and other systems of genome maintenance, such as DNA damage sensing and repair. In addition, we are analysing a range of novel chromatin-associated SUMO targets for their contribution to genome stability. While we primarily use budding yeast as a model system, we are pursuing selected questions in mammalian cells and have initiated more biochemically oriented projects using Xenopus laevis egg extracts.

We particularly welcome applications from highly motivated researchers with a strong background in protein purification and biochemistry. A good publication record and experience in the analysis of protein-DNA interactions would be an asset. Please direct informal enquiries and applications to Dr. Helle Ulrich (helle.ulrich@cancer.org.uk) by 30th June 2008. Details about the London Research Institute can be found at http://www.london-research-institute.org.uk/

Salary in the range of £25500 – £33000 plus location allowance.
