The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences that leads to new medicines and treatments for human diseases.

An experienced postdoctoral research scientist is required to work on a project funded by the Alzheimer’s Research Trust (ART) focused on the regulation of axonal transport and strategies to enhance it in models of Alzheimer’s disease. Using the latest methodologies to image both axons and the transport processes within them (Adalbert et al., 2009 Brain 132: 402-16), the successful candidate will study how the microtubule-associated protein tau and ApoE haplotype influence axonal transport and how this relates to the disease process.

Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience, cell biology or molecular biology, knowledge of neurodegenerative mechanisms and experience in confocal and/or live imaging and mouse genetics. Experience in studying axonal transport and an interest in Alzheimer’s disease is highly desirable.
