A 5-year postdoctoral position and two PhD student positions are available from November 2009 to study the molecular basis of vestibular and cerebellar diseases in mouse models. Goals include (i) generation of mouse models employing the phenotype- and gene-driven techniques that are well-established at the HelmholtzZentrum, (ii) build-up of a comprehensive mouse phenotyping unit for the vestibular system, complementing the current neurological screen of the German Mouse Clinic; (iii) investigation of gene-environment relations by challenging mutant mice with different stressors; and (iv) testing of novel therapeutic approaches as a prerequisite for translation into human clinical trials.
