美国德州大学健康科学中心招聘博士后

One postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Wenzheng Zhang in the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Texas Medical School at Houston. The University of Texas Medical School at Houston offers outstanding benefits and dynamic research environment within the multi-institutional Texas Medical Center. We emphasize motivation and productive work in a collegial environment. Start date negotiable; Fall 2009 preferred. Position opens until filled.

The lab is mainly interested in defining the in vivo function of Dot1, a gene encoding a histone methyltransferase specific for histone H3 lysine 79, in regulating ENaC transcription, Na+ transport and blood pressure as well as in tumoriogenesis and hair loss (http://gsbs.uth.tmc.edu/tutorial/zhang_wenzheng.html). Several transgenic mouse models including Dot1 conditional knockout mice have been recently developed in the lab by using the Cre-loxP system. Some of these animals have shown multiple abnormalities such as hypertension, growth retardation, and hair loss.

The successful candidate will use a variety of techniques to characterize the molecular and pathological phenotype of these mouse models. The ideal applicant should be a highly motivated individual and have a recent PhD or MD degree in pathology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or a related field. Previous experience in transgenic mice is preferred.

To apply, please send a current resume/CV and the names and contact information of three references to: Dr. Wenzheng Zhang, MSB 4.135, University of Texas HSC, 6431 Fannin St., Houston, Texas 77030, USA. E-mail:Wenzheng.zhang@uth.tmc.edu.
