Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work in the group of Professor Philip Mountford in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, University of Oxford. This position is funded by the EPSRC and is available for 12 months in the first instance, and up to a total period of 3 years. The project involves the synthesis and reactivity of early transition metal hydrazido compounds. Details of recent work by the Mountford group in this area are given the following references. The successful candidate will be able to start on or around January 4th 2010, having completed (or at least submitted) their doctoral thesis by the start date, and will have extensive experience in the synthesis, manipulation and reactivity of highly air-sensitive, early transition metal-organic compounds. A good working knowledge of the use of multinuclear NMR spectroscopy is also required, and experience of carrying out X-ray structure determinations and conducting kinetic and/or catalytic studies would also be an advantage. Candidates will also be expected to advise junior members of the research group, and to contribute to the writing of papers, reviews and other reports.
