英国牛津大学招聘博士后

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research assistantship to work under the supervision of Professor Brian Howard on an EPSRC funded project on the Microwave Spectroscopy of Weakly Bound Open-shell Complexes of NO. The position is available for a period of up to three years, starting in November 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This is a joint project with Professors Richard Wheatley, Tim Wright and Dr Nick Besley at the University of Nottingham. The project involves the investigation of the structure, dynamics and intermolecular interactions of weakly bound complexes of NO. The work at Oxford will concentrate on the molecular beam microwave fourier transform spectroscopy of such complexes. There will be opportunities to collaborate with those at Nottingham on the intermolecular forces and on the quantum dynamics of these systems

The Howard group is located in the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory at Oxford http://ptcl.chem.ox.ac.uk/. You can find out more about the Howard research group at www.chem.ox.ac.uk/researchguide/bjhoward.html

Applicants should either already have a PhD in a relevant area of chemistry or physical sciences, or have submitted their thesis prior to taking up the post. For this post, prior experience in high resolution molecular spectroscopy, structure/dynamics of weakly bound molecular complexes, open-shell molecular species, intermolecular interactions, laboratory studies of isolated gas phase molecules or the use of molecular beam techniques would be an advantage. Applicants should be adaptable, and willing to learn new experimental and theoretical techniques.

For further particulars of the post, including how to apply, visit our website http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/jobs.asp. These should be obtained before an application is made. Informal enquiries should be addressed to brian.howard@chem.ox.ac.uk. Please quote reference DN09007/BH in all correspondence.

The closing date for applications is 30 September 2009.
