Postdoctoral positions supported by two NIH Challenge Grants and the NHLBI Progenitor Cell Consortium are available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Kyba at the University of Minnesota. Research topics include (1) reprogramming of cell fate to derive hematopoietic stem cells directly from non-hematopoietic somatic cells, bypassing the plulripotent state, (2) understanding chromatin and gene expression changes in myogenic stem cells derived from iPS cells bearing the mutation for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, a common dominant disease of unknown molecular mechanism, and (3) studying cardiac specification of mesoderm in iPS cells and deriving transplantable cardiac progenitors. Highly motivated scientists (Ph.D and/or M.D.) with experience in stem cell biology will be preferred.
