A postdoctoral position is available in the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. The successful candidate will create and analyze a mouse model to study the physiological relevance of intra-axonal protein translation (Nat. Cell Biol. 11, 1024-1030 (2009); Nat. Cell Biol. 10, 149-159 (2008); J. Neurosci. 26, 5727-5732 (2006); Nature 436, 1020-1024 (2005)).
Individuals demonstrating the ability to be creative and highly motivated are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and a strong background in molecular or cell biology. Prior experience with transgenic/knockout mouse models and primary cultures of mammalian neurons is a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
