A postdoctoral position is available for a computational biologist in the fields of epigenetics, non-coding RNAs and cancer genomics. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to: statistical inference of important biological networks from large datasets, modeling three-dimensional chromatin structure and gene regulation, developing high-throughput technology for chromatin assays, studying the role of non-coding RNAs in epigenetics, and analyzing cancer genomes for novel oncogenes and tumor suppressors.

A qualified individual should have a strong background in one or more of the following fields: bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or systems biology. Some training in or exposure to molecular biology is preferred, but in exceptional cases, the applicant may substitute a skill and willingness to learn fast. The applicant should know how to program in at least one of C, C++, Java, Perl, or Python. Python is preferred for everyday coding, and C or Java for performance.

The UCSF Institute for Human Genetics is located in Parnassus Campus, just few blocks from Golden Gate Park. Many active collaborative and interdisciplinary research opportunities in stem cells, breast cancers, and melanomas are available. Interested candidates should send a CV and a brief description of past research experience to Prof. Jun S. Song. (Please obtain the contact information from the link http://songlab.ucsf.edu/Positions.html).
