The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a world-class biomedical research institution dedicated to improving health worldwide. A postdoctoral research position is available within the UCSF Department of Dermatology in the field of genetics/statistical genetics/bioinformatics.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a candidate with a Ph.D. (or equivalent) with training in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, genetic epidemiology, or a closely related field. The ideal applicant will have experience in analysis of next generation sequencing data, genome-wide association studies, gene expression studies, and/or epigenetics.
The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary research team to conduct experiments, perform data analyses, and implement novel statistical methods relevant for genetic studies of skin diseases. The applicant will play a major role in determining new research directions and in drafting manuscripts and presenting results at professional meetings.
Qualifications
This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills. Expertise in statistical and computational methods for the analysis of complex, high-dimensional genotype data is desirable. Wet lab experience is welcome and computer programming skills are a plus. The incumbent will be expected to work independently to complete data analysis.
