BioMed Central, part of Springer Science+Business Media, is a Science-Technology-Medicine (STM) publisher which has pioneered the open access publishing model. All original research articles published by BioMed Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. BioMed Central now has over 230 open access journals, about half of which being indexed by Science Citation Index (SCI).

 

Currently, we are looking for an Acquisitions and Development Editor, BMC to expand our business and activities in China.

Reporting Lines

Report to the Journal Development Manager, Beijing

 

Teamwork

The role requires close liaison with departments throughout BioMed Central located in China and London.

 

Responsibilities    

n        To grow the BioMed Central portfolio of journals originating from China, including new start ups, society journals and journals transferring to BMC.

n        To be responsible for the success of the journals originating from China through developing and executing journal development plans, optimising the publishing service and commercial opportunities and through increasing submissions.

n        To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board members, society representatives and other contacts located in China.

 

Requirements

n        Bachelor degree in life sciences or medicine. Further research experience is desirable

n        Experience in scientific editorial or publishing, including making contacts with editors, authors and reviewers

n        Experience in developing and maintaining productive and friendly relations or partnerships with both academic and industry-based scientists

n        Preferably experience in presenting information to and conducting discussions with senior academics and representatives of organisation, such as learned societies and libraries

n        Experience of working in an online environment

n        Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin
