 Assistant or Associate Professor of Global Health
 
The Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) and Duke Kunshan University seek two Assistant or Associate Professors in the practice track, to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in the global health curriculum to be established at Duke Kunshan University (DKU) in Kunshan, China. Successful candidates will be Duke Kunshan University faculty members and may be eligible for an appointment at Duke University. 
 
The DKU global health curriculum will be an interdisciplinary program tied closely to health priorities and challenges in China and in the region. The Master of Science in Global Health (MSc-GH) program will train students to analyze the causes and determinants of diseases and the interrelated effects of the economy, policies, business, cultures, and the environment in order to address the most pressing global health concerns in China and globally. The Undergraduate Global Health Semester is open to students enrolled at other universities in China and around the world. The program will include courses on global health challenges, research methods and ethics. 
 
DKU is a partnership of Duke University, Wuhan University and the Municipality of Kunshan, China. The DKU campus, expected to open in 2014, is located in Kunshan, China, which is 37 miles west of Shanghai and accessible by high speed train. Candidates for this faculty position should have a relevant doctoral degree or medical degree and should thrive in a multidisciplinary academic environment. Particularly strong candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching or training, and professional experience in a field relevant to global health such as medicine, epidemiology, environmental science, sociology, biostatistics, demography, economics, and health policy. Applicants who have experience working in China or other Asian countries, and with experience launching new initiatives, will be particularly well suited for these positions. Faculty will be expected to teach 4 courses each year, in English, at the graduate or undergraduate level and to mentor students. Faculty will also be expected to actively participate in Global Health Research Center (GHRC) at DKU. The GHRC has a dynamic portfolio of research projects in the areas of chronic disease, environmental health and health policy and systems.
