Based in the the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, you will assist with a project which aims to design and construct eddy current heating (excitation) systems for metallic crack detection using thermography including electromagnetic modelling and analysis, closely working with Prof Almond at the University of Bath and Prof Tian at Newcastle University. This is a targeted project of the UK Research Centre in NDE (RCNDE), funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The research partners include the University of Bath, Newcastle University, Rolls-Royce Plc and Alstom Power.

You will have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering at distinction level, (a PhD in Engineering or Physics would be desirable) and possess excellent communication skills. With experience in electric circuit design and electromagnetic analysis, you should also be able to work effectively within a team and have the ability to achieve innovative solutions. Mathematical analysis skills and experience in the use of Finite element packages, EM simulation packages in particular, are also required.

This post is fixed term for 1 year in the first instance.
