Dr. Xiaoguang Lei is seeking a Lab Manager and two Post-doctoral Fellows for the newly formed chemistry center at National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS), Beijing.

 

The major research of Dr. Xiaoguang Lei’s laboratory will focus on the synthesis of biologically meaningful small molecules, which will be used to function as probes to study the known biological pathways, to discover novel pathways and interactions, to validate potential drug targets, and to act as potential drug candidates. We hope to conduct chemical biology, medicinal chemistry as well as other highly interdisciplinary research at NIBS.

 

For the Lab Manager position, the desired candidate will be in charge of various laboratory and office functions that include ordering laboratory supplies, maintaining major instruments such as NMR and HPLC, and assisting PI in preparing grants/publication/correspondences as well as other office activities. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, computer, communication, and written skills. Applicants should have at least a MS degree in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry, and strong interests in research and several years of experience in a research environment. This appointment is expected to begin in May, 2008.

 

For the Post-doctoral Fellow positions, the ideal candidates will conduct the chemical biology and medicinal chemistry research in Dr. Lei’s laboratory. A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry with a solid background of organic synthesis is required. The experience in multi-step total synthesis is preferred. Applicants should also have excellent oral communication and written skills. These appointments are expected to begin in June, 2008.
