Lab: Prof. Richard Lucius; Molecular Parasitology, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (http://www2.hu-berlin.de/biologie/molpara/index.html) Our lab focuses on molecular aspects of the interaction between parasitic nematodes (filariae, GI- nematodes) and apicomplexan parasites (Eimeria, Toxoplasma) with the immune system of their host. We are particularly interested in molecules and mechanisms involved in immunomodulation and protective immunity.
The successful applicant will have experience and expertise in molecular cell biology, parasitology and/or immunology. She/he will carry out independent research on immune reactions to nematodes or apicomplexans. She/he is embedded into the Rersearch Training Group Graduiertenkolleg 1121 (www.idi-berlin.de) and is expected to introduce students of the PhD program into these aspects. The position is suitable for applicants interested to build up a career in the German university system.
