A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the University of Pennsylvania to study the mouse spermatogonial stem cell self-renewal and differentiation using transplantation, in vitro expansion of stem cells, in vitro reprogramming, and genetic approaches. Spermatogonial stem cell is one of the only two mammalian adult stem cells for which transplantation has been developed. Transplantation is the most powerful approach to study the regulation of adult stem cell functions. The laboratory is currently focused on two aspects of the germline development: spermatogonial stem cell biology and chromosome dynamics during meiosis (See Yang et al., Genes & Development, 2008;22(5):682-691). More information about recent publications can be found at our website http://www.vet.upenn.edu/faculty/pwang.>
Candidates with a recent Ph.D. or an equivalent degree should have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, or mouse genetics. Highly motivated individuals with at least one first authored publication are encouraged to send a cover letter, CV, and names and contact information for three referees to: Dr. P. Jeremy Wang, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA. Email: pwang@vet.upenn.edu.
