The chair of Applied Physical Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg offers a Postdoc position in Materials Chemistry. We are looking for a chemist or materials scientist with a background in surface science (e.g., XPS spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy). The ability to synthesize and purify small organic molecules is required. The topic will be the preparation and spectroscopic characterization of novel ultrathin free-standing membranes (see Advanced Materials 2005, 17, 2583) from cross-linked organic monolayers.
The membranes will be further chemically functionalized, e.g. for applications in sensorics and as a noise-free substrate for highest resolution transmission electron microscopy. Salary is € 2200 per month and will be paid as a tax-free fellowship, health insurance included. Initial duration will be 12 months, with a possible extension to 24 months.
