This post is funded by the BBSRC and will involve an experimental analysis of protein translocation reaction governed by the ubiquitous and essential SecY complex. You will undertake an independent research project by employing a range of biochemical and biophysical methods to focus on the nature of consequences of the interaction of the protein channel SecYEG and its substrate polypeptide. The objective will be to characterise the structure of the SecYEG complex formed with various polypeptides. You will be expected to continue and advance our understanding of this important reaction. You will also be expected to communicate the results of the project at internal laboratory meetings, at appropriate scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
