The Eastman is a friendly, world class, postgraduate institute, providing high quality patient care, education and advanced research in a superb environment.
The Division of Microbial Diseases has a number of well-funded research programmes in biofilms, bacterial gene transfer, bacterial virulence, mobile genetic elements, microbial ecology, bacterial taxonomy, antibiotic resistance and new antimicrobial strategies.
We are seeking applications from skilled molecular microbiologists to undertake an investigation into the molecular basis of virulence of the important human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. This is a collaborative project with St George’s University of London and Kings College London. The project involves the use of cutting-edge molecular techniques including bacterial microarrays in conjunction with in vitro and in vivo models of virulence. This is a three year position and is a unique opportunity for a motivated post doctoral worker to undertake a detailed analysis of an important and unusual human pathogen.
The position is a full-time post on Grade 7 with starting salary of £29,138pa plus £2,649 London Allowance and is available from the end of May.
