英国剑桥大学招聘博士后
Two post-doctoral research associates, funded by an EU FP7 Programme, are available immediately for 3 years to work on structure/function of the polypeptide growth factor HGF/SF and its receptor MET and the development of MET therapeutics (see Nat Mol Cell Biol 4:915-25, 2003 for an overview of the signalling system and its relevance to cancer therapy).

SFMET1 and SFMET2: These post-doctoral research associate positions are for protein crystallographers to work on: – the crystallisation and structure solution of fragments of HGF/SF with antagonistic activity in complex with MET (SFMET1) and, – crystallisation and structure solution of HGF/SF-MET complexes (SFMET2) (see PNAS 103:4046-4051, 2006 for a description of the complexes under study). A strong background protein crystallography is essential for these positions. Experience with protein expression and purification and/or site-directed mutagenesis is also expected.

SFMET3: This research assistant position is for three years and is for a bacterial/phage geneticist to work on affinity maturation of fragments of HGF/SF with antagonistic activity (PNAS 104:14592-7, 2007 and JMB 377:616-22, 2008). The work will involve phage display, mutagenesis and selection of phage variants and their physico-chemical and biological
characterisation.

SFMET4: This is a research assistant position for 12 months in the first instance for a biophysicist working on the interaction between small molecules and the MET ectodomain. A background and previous experience in physical chemistry is essential and is expected to cover isothermal calorimetry, mass spectrometry and surface plasmon resonance.

The posts will be based either at the University Department of Oncology (at the MRC Centre in Cambridge) or at the University Department of Biochemistry.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Ermanno Gherardi on egherard@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk or Sir Tom Blundell on tom@cryst.bioc.cam.ac.uk

Completed applications consisting of a PD18 form (downloadable from http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/hr/forms/pd18/), CV including research summary, and the names and addresses of two referees should be sent to Judith Nial via email: jln23@cam.ac.uk or to Department of Oncology, Hutchison / MRC Research Centre, Box 197, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 0XZ.

Research Associate Salaries: £25,134 – £32,796.
Research Assistant Salaries: £21,682 – £24,403.

Please state clearly which post you are applying for.
