Postdoctoral Research Associate (Ref: EPS/80016)
Salary £27,466 – £30,013 p.a.
A BBSRC-funded Postdoctoral position is available in the Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre to work with Prof. John McCarthy and Prof. Hans Westerhoff. The position involves experimental rate control analysis of the eukaryotic translation initiation pathway, both in vivo and in vitro.
We seek an enthusiastic and highly capable researcher withappropriate experience in biochemical experimentation and/or genetics in yeast. The ideal candidate would have an interest in systems biology approaches, particularly computational analysis and/or model building, ideally in relation to gene expression systems. However, candidates with relevant experience in other
areas of quantitative bioscience are also welcome to apply.
The position will be for 2 years. Funding is available to support a candidate with three years’ postdoctoral experience. There may
be opportunities for engagement with related research beyond the initial 2 years.
The work will be carried out in the newly opened Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre (www.mib.ac.uk) which, with support from the Wellcome Trust and the Wolfson Foundation has been constructed to accommodate a range of research at the interface between physical sciences and biology.
This project will be supported by a full-time technician.
