Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Cell Cycle Control

Salary range £27,874 – £34,281

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the MCRI Cell Cycle Control Laboratory headed by Dr Hiro Yamano, who studies how the ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis controls cell cycle and genome stability. The project will focus on the molecular mechanisms of the APC/C (anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome) dependent ubiquitylation and proteolysis. We use both biochemical and genetic approaches using frog egg extracts and fission yeast (Kimata, Y. et al., Dev. Cell, 14,446-454, 2008; Trickey, M. et al., Mol. Cell Biol., 28,3905-3916,2008). Further information on the institute and the laboratory can be found at our website http://www.mcri.ac.uk/research/cellcycle.asp

We particularly welcome applications from highly motivated researchers with a strong background in protein purification and biochemistry. A good publication record would be an asset. However, we will also consider enthusiastic researchers with experience in one or more aspects of molecular biology, genetics or cell biology. We offer a very competitive salary, which will depend upon qualifications and experience. The Institute is located in an extremely pleasant, rural environment in Oxted, Surrey, with easy access to the London area.

Candidates should submit a full CV with the names and addresses of three referees and a brief description of intent of research, to Dr. Hiro Yamano, Cell Cycle Control Laboratory, Marie Curie Research Institute, The Chart, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 OTL UK.

Email: h.yamano@mcri.ac.uk

Closing date: 25th July 2008.
