As one of the five national laboratories approved by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology in November 2003, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (WNLO) is co-founded by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, Hubei Provincial Government, and Wuhan Municipal Government with Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) as its backstop. It is also a collaboration of Wuhan Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (WRI), Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM) and Huazhong Institute of Optoelectronic Technology (HIOT).
WNLO is not only an important part of the Chinese national scientific innovation system, but the innovation and intelligence source for Wuhan Optics Valley of China (WOVC). With the principles of “Based in WOVC, Co-sponsored the province and the national ministries, Cross Interdisciplinary, and Integrated Resources” WNLO aims at being the research base for the national innovation system, the innovation base for optoelectronics, the training base for high-level and inter-disciplinary scientists and engineers, and the base for academic exchange and cooperation in the field of optoelectronics. WNLO is to promote the development of the national optical industries and enhance its competitiveness by providing powerful scientific and technological support.

I. Position description
In accordance with the demands of national strategies and economical development, WNLO has established nine research departments , including Fundamental Photonics Department, Laser Science and Technology Department, Optoelectronic Devices and Integration Department, Photon Radiation and Detection Department, Optoelectronic Materials and Micronano Manufacture Department, Micro-Optical-Electronical-Mechanical-System(MOEMS) Department, Optical Data Storage Department, Biomedical Photonics Department, Optical Communication and Intelligent Networks Department.
Positions available for outstanding scholars as:
a director of WNLO;
a chief scientist in key devices of optical communications;
a chief scientist in solid state lighting (SSL),covering epitaxial growth, chip processing and packaging;
a chief scientist in novel lasers and devices;
a chief scientist in laser processing theory and technology;
a chief scientist in organic light-emitting materials & devices (OLED);
a chief scientist in solar cell;
a chief scientist in optoelectronics in health care and biomedical optics;
a chief scientist in optical data storage.
II. Qualifications
Academic ability: Either an internationally famous professor or an eminent scholar ranking among world’s leading scientists.
Age: The director candidate no more than 55 and chief scientists no more than 50 in principle.
III. Duties
The director candidate working full-time, should have forward-thinking perspectives into academic development of main research areas, and being capable of leading all the staff to conduct scientific and technological innovation of world-leading level.
The chief scientists working full-time, should be capable of leading related research group to conduct scientific and technological innovation of world-leading level.
IV. Benefits
1. Salaries
HuBei Provincial Government will offer an allowance of RMB 600—1000 thousand (with 5-year recruitment), besides the basic salary, allowances and related welfares offered by HUST.
2. Start-up funds
According to the specific research work and the laboratory conditions, HUST will provide RMB 500,–1000, thousand and WNLO will provide another RMB 500,–1000, thousand from Ministry of Science and Technology as the research start-up funds.
3. Facility funds
HUST will provide RMB 2000 —6000 thousand to build up the experiment facilities. The fund is a part of the third phase construction fee of “211 Project” and “985 Project”.
4. Housing
HUST will provide a 3-bedroom rental apartment as well as the housing subsidy accordingly. Housing subsidy will also be offered if a commodity house is purchased.
5. Resettlement and job relocation of spouse
Job relocation of spouse will be based on specialty.
V. The benefits of other high-level talents will be discussed on the circumstances. The post-doctorates will be entitled to the benefits in line with the relevant regulations of HUST.

三、杰出人才扶持政策
1. 基本待遇：
除华中科技大学提供的基本工资、津贴及相关待遇外，湖北省人民政府将提供60-100万元的津贴（聘期五年）。
2. 科研启动费：
根据研究工作性质和实验室已有条件，华中科技大学提供科研启动费50-100万元，国家实验室从科技部引导经费中提供研究基金50-100万元。
3．配套设备费：
华中科技大学从“211工程”三期建设经费和“985工程”三期建设经费中提供200-600万元设备购置费。
4. 住房：
华中科技大学提供三室一厅周转房租用，并按照学校政策每月给予房租补贴。若购置社会商品房，则享受国家住房货币化补贴。
5. 配偶工作安排

四、其他高层次人才，视具体情况面议。博士后待遇以华中科技大学博士后管理工作规定为准。
