Funded by the BMBF NGFN-Plus Program, we conduct a central research project “MHC haplotype sequencing: An integrated approach to common disease”. This project involves selection and assembly of haploid clones from fosmid libraries, application of high throughput genotyping, 2nd generation sequencing and advanced bioinformatic technologies to analyse MHC haplotype sequences at large scale. The position is available immediately, for up to three years with the possibility of extension.
Primary responsibilities:
Handling of fosmid libraries, application of established techniques to targeted clone selection (Raymond et al., 2005) at high throughput (HT), evaluation & implementation of novel selection strategies, establishment & management of a HT production and 2nd generation sequencing pipeline, interaction with bioinformatics team.
Qualifications:
PhD degree, a strong background in molecular genetic techniques, an edge for technology development and sequencing, experience with bacterial large-insert libraries and HT technologies desirable, familiarity with current concepts in the genetics of complex disease a plus. The candidate should be strongly motivated, team-oriented, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
