新西兰奥塔戈大学化学系招聘博士后

(Fixed-term)

(Polymer/supramolecular chemistry or polymer/pharmaceutical chemistry)

Department of Chemistry

Applications are invited for a FRST-funded Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Chemistry. The position involves either (i) the synthesis of supramolecular hydrogels for eventual use in gel actuators or (ii) the further development of a range of bioderived hydrogels that are currently under early human trials for use in surgery.

For the supramolecular position the candidate should have a strong research background in one or more of the following areas, polymer synthesis and characterisation, organic synthesis, or inorganic coordination chemistry. Skills in x-ray crystallography, or electrochemistry would be an advantage.

For the pharmaceutical position the candidate should have skills in one or more of the following areas: organic synthesis, model drug incorporation and release studies, microbiological concerns (sterility, pyrogen content) and stability issues. Skills in HPLC and other related techniques will be an advantage.

The candidate will be joining a rapidly growing polymer group under the supervision of Associate Professor Lyall Hanton (http://neon.otago.ac.nz/chemistry/contacts/profile/lrh/) and Dr Stephen Moratti (http://neon.otago.ac.nz/chemistry/contacts/profile/scm/).>

Specific enquiries may be directed to Dr Stephen Moratti, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Chemistry, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, Tel 64 3 479 7829, Fax 64 3 479 7906, Email smoratti@chemistry.otago.ac.nz or to Associate Professor Lyall Hanton, Tel 64 3 479 7918, email lhanton@chemistry.otago.ac.nz
