Post-Doctoral Position in Bacterial Evolution
to study the bacterial evolution and genetic transfer in the human opportunistic pathogen Streptococcus agalactiae on the basis of our model of the evolutionary history of this species (Brochet et al. PNAS 2008). The laboratory combines population genomics, functional genomics and bioinformatics to analyse the evolution of pathogenic streptococci. It belongs to the Department of Genomes and Genetics at the Institut Pasteur, which provides an outstanding environment with state of the art facilities. The candidate should have a keen interest in evolution and a strong background in molecular and/or evolutionary biology.
This three year position starting January 2009 is funded by the French National Research Agency in the frame work of the bacterial genomics project entitled "Population genomics of Streptococcus agalactiae, from genome diversification to host adaptation."
Qualification
PhD thesis in evolutionary biology or in microbiology
