Postdoctoral position – Molecular Biology
Based in Genoa, close to both the Italian Riviera and the Alps, the Italian Institute of Technology is a non-profit institution dedicated to translational research and early development in Robotics, Neuroscience and Drug Discovery, established jointly by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Italy. The primary goal of the IIT is the creation and dissemination of high-level scientific knowledge, as well as the strengthening of Italy’s technological competitiveness.
The mission of the Drug Discovery and Development (D3) unit is to create innovative medicines for brain diseases and inflammation. Its internal research engine of 70 scientists and staff will pursue this goal by working collaboratively and in cooperation with external private and public partners.
To support and strengthen its molecular biophysics team, D3 seeks a highly motivated
Molecular Biologist (Postdoctoral)
to study a series of targets belonging to pathways relevant to inflammation, neuropathic pain and neurodegenerative diseases, with the aim of guiding the design and synthesis of potentially specific ligands and potent lead compounds. The ideal candidate has a recent PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field, and thorough training and experience in recombinant DNA, cell culture, production of recombinant proteins from heterologous expression systems, and site directed mutagenesis. Experience with protein interactions and in vitro assays is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary and highly interactive environment, with chemists, pharmacologists, and informaticians. Enthusiasm for lab work and an ability to work as part of a team are essential requirements for the position available.
