UCL DIVISION OF MEDICINE
Centre for Clinical Pharmacology
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Ref IPT/AC
Applications are invited for an MRC funded post-doctoral position to study the role of nuclear receptor (LXR?) phosphorylation in inflammation and atherosclerosis with Dr. Inés Pineda-Torra at the Centre for Clinical Pharmacology, the Division of Medicine at UCL.
Previous work showed that changes in LXR phosphorylation in macrophages affect the transcriptional activity of the receptor in a gene-specific manner and also reveal novel target genes for LXR (Torra IP et al., 2008 Mol Cell Biol 28:2626-2636). The successful candidate will now investigate the role of LXR phosphorylation in macrophage alternative activation and inflammation as well as its impact in the development of atherosclerosis.
Applications from talented and highly motivated recent PhD graduates with relevant experience in models of atherosclerosis are particularly encouraged. Candidates should also have experience in cell/molecular biology. Previous background in transcriptional regulation and/or nuclear receptor signaling will be a distinct advantage.
For informal enquiries please contact Dr Inés Pineda-Torra – i.torra@ucl.ac.uk
The post will be on UCL salary scale Grade 7 point 29, £28,839-£35,469 plus London Allowance £2,781. The position is available for 3.5 years.
All completed applications should be sent to: Miss A Carroll, Ground Floor, Rayne Building, 5 University Street, London WC1E 6JJ
