The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have recently initiated a partnership research program in marine meta-genomics and bioactive compounds of marine microbes from the Red Sea. Under this program, the following positions are available:
POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWS
Position 1: Microbial meta-genomics. A PhD in microbiology/marine microbial ecology is required. Candidates must have solid training in molecular microbial ecology, proven technical skills for studying microbial community structures, and good understanding of marine ecosystem/ecology.
Position 2: Proteomics. A PhD in molecular biology is required. Candidates must have a strong background in comparative proteomics research.
Position 3: Natural product chemistry. A PhD in natural product chemistry is required. Candidates must have solid training and research track-record in analytical chemistry and marine natural product.
All the Post-doctoral Fellows will be appointed by KAUST and initial appointment will be for TWO years with possibility for renewal. The appointed postdoctoral fellows will be based at HKUST for the first year of their contract and will assist in setting up research laboratories and research programs at KAUST campus in the second year. Accommodation will be provided during their service at KAUST campus. Salary will be highly competitive and depend on qualifications and experience, and an attractive package and benefits will be offered to the right candidates. Allowance, annual leave, medical and dental benefits, insurance will be provided. The postdoctoral fellows will be encouraged to apply for research scientist positions at KAUST.
As English is the official media at HKUST and KAUST, all the candidates must be fluent in English and equipped with good English writing skills.
