Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, working within the Centre for Molecular Oncology and Imaging in the Institute of Cancer and Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre. The project will focus on analysing both transcriptional and post-translational aspects of the function of Yes associated protein (YAP) involved in tumourigenesis. We have previously demonstrated that p73-mediated DNA damage requires YAP function (Basu et al, Molecular Cell, 11:11,2003; Danovi et al., Cell Death and Differentiation, 15:1, 2008) and have also shown YAP to function as a tumour suppressor in breast (Yuan et al, Cell Death and Differentiation, 15:11, 2008). Currently, we are examining post-translational modifications of YAP and p53 family members and their interaction. Future work will involve assessing these dynamic biochemical processes in vitro and in vivo, as well as carrying out molecular analyses in tumour samples.
Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant subject and previous experience in molecular biology and cell biology research. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential. Previous experience in cancer research would be advantageous.
The post is available immediately, and is funded by Cancer Research UK until October 2010. Appointment will be made on the Research Grade 4 scale in the range £30,079-£39,430 per annum inclusive depending on experience.
