Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Research Institute for Electronic Science, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. We seek a postdoctoral researcher to conduct research in the area of diffuse fluorescence imaging for small animals. The main focus of the project is to develop a time-resolved fluorescence imaging system for small animals. The applicant will work on the development of the experimental system and the imaging algorithm using phantoms and small animals. This position requires a Ph.D. in Physics, Optics or Electrical Engineering. The successful candidate should be well trained in the experimental field of diffuse optical tomography or related optical technologies including the time-resolved spectroscopy. The experience of experiments using small animals is desirable. The initial appointment will be for a 12 month period from March or April, 2009. Renewal of the contract will be contingent upon the availability of adequate funding and performance. The project is funded by The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in Japan.
