Postdoctoral Research Fellow
To work on the role of Helicobacter pylori infection in iron deficiency anaemia and growth impairment.
The person appointed will work on the collaborative European Commission CONTENT project investigating aspects of Helicobacter pylori infection in Latin American paediatric populations and the links between infection, growth impairment and iron deficiency anaemia. The project will involve both clinical and laboratory based research, and collaboration with international partners in the project.
Applicants should have a degree in basic biological sciences and a PhD in microbiology or immunology. The person appointed should have an interest in immunity to infection and immune-nutritional interactions or iron deficiency. Home Office training for modules 1, 2 and 3 is required.
The Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine is located in The Wellcome Trust Brenner Building at St. James’s University Hospital, the largest teaching hospital in Europe.
This post is available from April 2009 for a fixed-term of eighteen months.
Due to funding limitations, appointment is restricted to the bottom 2 points of University Grade 7 (£29,704 – £30,594 p.a.)
