The Brain Tumor Research Program at the University of Freiburg is recruiting exceptional and highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientists for the research group of the Professor for Neuro-oncology (Markus Bredel MD, Ph.D.) to expand efforts in basic, translational and computational brain tumor research, both basic and translational, addressing the molecular biology and resistance to therapy of human brain tumors.

 

Positions are intended for outstanding candidates with extensive experience in molecular cancer biology/genetics and/or computational genomics, proven research credentials, and a compelling publication record. Candidates are expected to hold a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in cancer biology/genetics. Candidates should have a strong desire to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

 

We are interested in candidates with:

 

1) extensive molecular biology/genetics experience, including recombinant DNA/protein technology, retroviral/lentiviral gene transfection and knockdown, cancer stem cell isolation/genetic modification, genotyping, primary tumor cell culture, and animal models;

 

2) extensive computational genomics experience, including the analysis of high-throughput genome-wide datasets (expression, gene copy number, SNP, loss of heterozygosity, methylation, microRNA) and the use of public genomic databases, such as The Cancer Genome Atlas Project (TCGA), Cancer Genome Anatomy Project (CGAP), Glioma Molecular Diagnostic Initiative (GMDI), Repository of Molecular Brain Neoplasia Data (REMBRANDT), GDB Human Genome Database, Celsius, GEO, and Array Express.
