Description:
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Department of Radiology at Case Western Reserve University. Research will primarily be focused on the formulation, characterization and assessment of local ultrasound-mediated drug delivery systems for chemotherapy. The candidate will also be partially responsible for routine laboratory tasks such as operating and maintenance of lab equipment, as well as developing new techniques under limited supervision, coordinating lab activities, performing complex analytical procedures, and designing, evaluating, and optimizing experimental techniques.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have completed a PhD or MD/PhD in bioengineering with a concentration in drug delivery and/or biomedical imaging (preferably ultrasound) or a related discipline. The ideal candidate should have experience with formulation chemistry, nanomedicine, and animal models of cancer. Applicants need to be familiar with animal handling and husbandry, surgical procedures and small animal imaging techniques as well as tissue culture. Candidates should also be knowledgeable with imaging technology, particularly ultrasound and computed tomography, and image-guided interventions. The candidate will be expected to work independently in a multi-disciplinary research team of faculty (both research and clinical), residents and graduate students. Skills in data collection, interpretation and scientific publication are essential. The position is available August 1, 2008.
