美国加州大学伯克利分校招聘生物信息学博士后

Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available at the University of California, Berkeley with the Berkeley Phylogenomics Group (BPG), a bioinformatics research group working at the intersection of biology and computer science. This position is funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Biological and Environmental Research in the development of the Systems Biology Knowledgebase, a “cyberinfrastructure to facilitate a new level of scientific inquiry by serving as a central component for the integration of modeling, simulation, experimentation, and bioinformatic approaches.”

This project will be led by Prof. Kimmen Sjölander, in the Department of Bioengineering and the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology, but also requires the postdoctoral scholar to interact with other participants in the DOE Systems Biology Knowledgebase (involving groups across the United States at various universities). The DOE-BPG Systems Biology Knowledgebase Post Doc will work with members of the Berkeley Phylogenomics Group and with other Systems Biology Knowledge base researchers to help develop a computational infrastructure for (meta)genome functional annotation, analyze and present data, write summary reports and publish research results.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in either computational biology or the biological sciences, with research experience in bioinformatics and/or microbial comparative genomics. A successful candidate will be deeply familiar with microbial genome functional annotation and have a strong record of publishing quality research. The candidate must have a solid understanding of fundamental biology, and programming skills (preferably Python). Experience with bioinformatics methods for homolog detection, multiple sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree construction, ortholog identification and prediction of pathway association is desirable. Previous experience with bioinformatics databases is preferred. Good communication and presentation skills are required.

Please e-mail a resume, list of publications and copies of two recent and relevant publications to the Dr. Kimmen Sjölander, at the email address below. To receive full consideration, applicants should arrange to have letters of references from three individuals sent to Dr. Sjölander to be emailed directly by the referees. Immigration status of non-citizens should be stated in the resume.
