新加坡国立大学招聘石墨烯研究博士后

Two12-month (renewable up to 3 years) post-doctoral research fellow positions in the group of Prof. Özyilmaz are available at the Graphene Center at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The fellows will join a recently funded multidisciplinary research effort on graphene. The fellows will explore transport properties of large scale CVD graphene in the mesoscopic regime and graphene device applications in particular in the area of spin transport studies in nanomagnet-graphene hybrid nanostructure devices. The ultimate goal is to build wafer scale graphene based all spin logic devices with build in memory. Spin transfer torque will be used to manipulate the magntic states and logic operations will be performed based on gate bias controlled non-local spin currents. The project will be in collaborations with Prof. Byung Hee Hong and Prof. Jong-Hyun Ahn from SKKU (Cu-CVD graphene). The project will also leverage on a soon to be delivered UHV-MBE chamber dedicated for MgO tunnel junctions on graphene for coherent spin injection. The system is fully computer controlled, optimized for wafer scale growth of magnetic tunnel junction and magnetic spin vales on graphene. The system is currently being build by Omicron and will be delivered in Jan. 2011. The post-doc is expected to utilize this unique UHV-MBE system to create novel ferroelectric, superconducting and magnetic, interfaces with graphene. One of the main projects is to build graphene based CPP spin valves and magnetic tunnel junctions utilizing large area graphene and to perform combinatorial studies. After growth and patterning of devices, the post-doc is expected to do spin valve measurements in the sub 100 mK range and develop a detailed understanding of spin transport in CVD graphene. To date, an understanding of spin transport in particular in the technologically relevant bilayer graphene is still missing and provides great opportunities for new discoveries. The group has already extensive experience in the fabrication and characterization of graphene nanostructures. Additional facilities available at NUS, the Graphene Center and NANOCORE include state-of the art clean rooms, UHV deposition systems, atomic layer deposition, electron beam lithography, proton beam lithography, focused ion beam patterning, helium ion microcopy, STM, SEM, AFM, micro-Raman, etc…Measurement systems in the group include one 9T VTI and one 16 T VTI (2K-400K) and a dilution refrigerators with a 7-2-2 T vector magnet a 9T magnet.

The ideal candidate has experience in graphene research, electron beam lithography, thin film deposition under UHV conditions, mesoscopic transport measurements at low temperatures (He3 and/or dil. fridge) and high magnetic fields, spin transport studies and a strong experience in device applications. Only candidates with a strong background in at least two of the areas mentioned above will be considered.
